I7 6700k overclocking guide. (Help)

Just ordered my new pc. I7 6700k, gtx 1070 and 16gb ddr4. Want to overclocking.  What's safe Temps? I have the Phantom 530 with stock fans (200+mm front intake and I think one 120-140mm exhaust but not sure). The enermax ets-t40f-w cooler. How much can I overclocking with that and what temperature should I not exceed?

80C is about the limit that i would be ok with, though I would prefer <75C (as the max temps that an individual core ever spikes to). 1.4V is also about the voltage limit, which I believe linus says in that video, with 1.45 if you can afford to upgrade within 5ish years. Only go higher if you don't care about buying another. Keep in mind though that running at higher voltages (unless you're crazy and run at 1.6V on air or something) shouldn't cause instant damage, but rather it's more of an over time thing.

 

As for you specifically, it depends on how lucky you are with the silicon lottery. I would expect about 4.6GHz, maybe 4.7 if you are really lucky and are ok with higher temps.

Should I just go for 4.6? Will the extra temp for .1 more really do anything performance wise?

As I said above it depends on the thermals your chip gives you. Try 4.7, but if the voltages required/heat produced are too high, step it down to 4.6.
