Can someone explain what the difference between registered/buffered and unregistered/unbuffered memory is. Aren't they both ecc memory? Why do we need two different types, and what is their benefit?

This is my opinion, it doesn't mean I'm right and is liable to change at any time. I may offend of which I apologize in advance.

Actually the video doesn't answere my questions at all. It only explains how ecc works not why there are different types.
