CPU Load issue

daimenworrall
Go to solution Solved by Caphalem,

Have you tried this? It's still weird that this is even happening.

Hi, i have a fairly good CPU however if i run WoW and Chrome (Youtube makes it worse) My CPU is always maxed out.

I have attached a picture, it's not showing 100% but when i tab to WoW it will raise to 100%.

Temps seem fine, i'm running a H100i.

Any suggestions?

Thank you.

That's just how it is with i5's nowdays. You definitely have more headroom to overclock. Up to 1.45V is fine as long as temps don't go over 85C. 1.5V if the chip is delided which I doubt it is :)

Oh wait I just realized that you have an H170 chipset.

Is that a suggestion? Upgrade to a better motherboard?

If so, which one?

At least someone didn't jump on the CPU bottleneck bandwagon...

That isn't unheard of for YouTube. Depends on the video. I can get Chrome to use 50% of my 5820K with an 8K video and like 30% with a 4K 60 fps video.

Sort Task Manager by CPU load. If that doesn't show anything alarming, look at Resource Monitor.

Also "Anti-malware Service Executable" keeps popping up using about 25% of the CPU. Which doesn't help. But I've read that's because i use Defender.

So is there anything i can do? I've used chrome for years and this is a recent issue. Perhaps for a few months.

And look for what?

The culprit to your CPU load. Resource Monitor is more granular and will pinpoint what .exe is taking threads.

In terms of threads. System is using 141 - and that's the highest.

Next is uTorrent with 111 and explorer.exe with 108.

Anything out of place with those?

Anybody else?

I didn't even see that you put more info! Can you sort that by CPU? Sorting by CPU shows how much load it's placing while the threads tell you how many processes are taking place.

No worries, Plex wasn't using so much when i made this thread. I suspect that isn't the issue.

Chrome seems to be the culprit, as pointed out previously.

I can't find any info about why it would use up to 60% of my CPU.

Is Plex on your computer to feed to others? Chrome, yes, could be a culprit and is overshooting its resources. Also, I would try killing Skype.
