I recently assembled parts and i did everything seemingly right, but it is not working. the power supply is connected to the wall and turned on, but no LEDs are on and pressing the power button does nothing. the build consists of a 6700k, gtx 1080, MSi Z170a Gaming Pro Carbon, Hyper 212 LED cpu cooler, and 750 gq psu. everything is plugged into the correct spots, it should be working.

is the cpu fan connected to the cpu fan header and not a case fan header?

it is connected to sysfan1.

it should be connected to a cpu fan header

the mobo wont start up if it thinks you dont have a cpu fan. i dont know if systemfan 1 is the cpu fan header for your mobo but i would suspect it has a more clear cpu fan header name.

I agree, is there a fan header that says CPU or something along those lines in it?

yes, there is, it seems i swapped the case fans with the cpu fans. i will try this and see if it works

Try to intentionally short the two pins on mobo where the power switch cables plug in. Anything metal small enough to only bridge the two pins should work

CPU: AMD Sempron 2400+ / MOBO: Abit NF7-S2G / GPU: WinFast A180BT 64MB / RAM: Mushkin DDR333 256MBx2 / HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 120GB

You're sure the switch on the power supply is in correct position? Maybe try flipping it a couple times, just not rapidly.

Well, if all basics check out, next would be un-mounting the mobo and trying it outside of case. Did you check for any unnecessary standoffs and remove them prior to installing mobo in case?

the mobo is now set up outside of the case and there is no difference, the psu fan doesn't spin, the mobo leds don't come on. nothing.

Have you tested the power supply? EVGA should include a power supply jumper in the box to test for a dead power supply. Fan should spin if it isn't in eco mode which would indicate the power supply is good at least and maybe it is a loose connection or a dead MB.

Shows what the jumper looks like etc... http://www.evga.com/support/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=59582

Also make sure all the cables you plugged into the power supply are in correctly they should click into place same when they go into the mb.

^ As said above, if PSU has modular cables, check that they are connected to PSUs side too. If you have no lights on mobo, it isn't getting power and its useless to take any further troubleshooting steps.

As a side note, move your SSD to some place where it doesn't jank data/power cables too much.
