PLGA775 vs. LGA775?

Go to solution Solved by ARikozuM,

They are the same. Check your BIOS to see if the new CPU is supported.

Edit: You have to check the board maker's website.

My media/stream box pc that's on my tv stand just had a random overheating incident that killed my Pentium D (PLGA775) so I tested the mobo with a Pentium 4 I had laying around and the system is fine, I've been wanting to get a new processor for the system though with a bit more kick so it can do 1080p video, buy new I mean the Core 2 quad Q6600 (LGA775).

Is LGA775 compatible with PLGA775 because buying the new processor would be cheaper than buying a whole new thing to do video and streaming.
