Well by backup I was including a backup boot drive as well. Meaning if my 850 EVO ever failed, I'd still be able to enjoy decent performance while I waited for a replacement to ship. Are you saying that even in that case, the boot time difference between Seagate FireCuda & WD Black is too small to notice?

Oh, ok. If by SSHD you mean a hybrid drive, Then yes. Apparently that since it takes a while for the hybrid to kick in, it is not worth it. Get the more reliable HDD.

I'm looking for a highly reliable, long lasting & very fast 1TB backup HDD for my 1st PC I'm building in a couple months. I know that seems like very early shopping but I've been slowly buying parts already in order to take advantage of the best possible sales. So far my 2 immediate options are Seagate FireCuda & Western Digital Black, both have a 5 year warranty, are around the same price, but I hear WD is slightly more reliable while SG is a little faster being an SSHD. However another feature I've been unable to find is Shock Resistance, I've seen External Portable HDD's that have this feature but not an internal one. I have a MasterCase Pro 3 & I suspect that a shock resistant external HDD could be mounted to the HDD Cage Base Plate that's also intended for a reservoir but am unsure. I'd greatly appreciate any & all suggestions regarding the two above options plus any other choices I might of missed.

For backup, don't get an SSHDD. It will be of no advantage to you.

Thanks I will, also glad I can decide on WD Black because it'll match build as Seagate FireCuda has a green/orange label.
