Thought it would be fun to see peoples dream keyboard.

These are the features in my dream keyboard:

  • Swappable cherry mx switches that are sold separetly, they all are attached with a stable clip-design.
  • Keyboard base is made of an aluminum construction, you can either choose a tkl or a full-size design.
  • Keycaps made of either rough aluminum or glass, option to get them laser etched with letters/numbers.
  • Every key switch has a individual RGB-led that can be controlled in software. This would look great with glass keycaps.
  • Built in USB 3.0 hub.
  • Screen of a smaller size to indicate for example stats of your key presses, wpm, or maybe time/date?
  • With a price tag of 29.99, no but seriously, i would definitely pay 400 bucks + for this keyboard.

So, what's your dream keyboard?

1 - Must be made of full metal construction.

2 - 16 million colour LED backlighting with tons of flashing modes plus user downloadable/programmable LED flashing modes.

3 - Replaceable switches (mechanical)

4 - Changable polling rate from 125Hz - 1000Hz.

5 - Included onboard DAC so you can use good quality headphones off a USB cable you plug into your PC.

7 - Fully customizable height and tilt adjustments.

8 - Customizable weight so the keyboard can me moved around to your preference. (I move my keyboard while I play and sometimes it slides when i don't want it to).

9. Full speed USB 3 hubs.

10 - full mechanical media controls.

11 - (Optional) glass key caps that are frosted so you can see the LED lighting.

Hm... If you can't make a keyboard with my requirements, try to make a watercooled keyboard just cause...

@Slick I want to know what Slick wants in his keyboard...

There are full aluminum keyboards out there...Just be ready to shell out ~$400-$500 for the case+ PCB+controller alone, before the switches and keycaps.

Here's one of LZ's newest keyboards. $490 before shipping.

Aluminum 6061-T5 body & Stainless steel back-plate to add weight to the keyboard with a custom fitted wooden limited edition serial inserted between the aluminum frame...

Fancy a 60% keyboard instead? That'll be $179 before shipping for the outer aluminum frame.

Fancy a titanium space bar? That'll be $100 too.

Brushed?

Shiny?

How about sandblasted?

Need Zinc keycaps too to match your Aluminum/Titanium case? That'll be another $65 :P

The above images posted above are not my keyboards/designs. Credits go to the Team LZ and feng/Hammer & anyone I may have missed. There's just way too many customizations for MX keyboards...of which many have not yet even seen.

Im not into those super flashy keyboards. I prefer the sleeker more basic look so no glass key+led backlight for me.

  • Swappable cherry mx switches like you said but maybe with added support for other switches.
  • I would want it to come with multiple full sets of colored keycaps since I want to color code my keyboard (I plan on doing red for movement keys, green for inventory selection, and blue for CS buys)
  • I want it to come with O-Rings to fit the keycaps with.
  • Built in USB 3.0 hub with Objective 2 headphone amp!
  • I would want metal construction of some kind but I want it to add structure and not to look too flashy.
  • Finally I want it in a compact tenkeyless design.

With all that stuff we may as well be asking them to make a keyboard that transforms into a jet but we can always dream.

The titanium space bar are custom ordered. Only 2 or so group buy orders happen per year.

As for zinc keycaps, feng has a bunch on Ebay.

I believe Tesoro will be releasing a full RGB board in the Lobera Supreme, at least the RGB part is becoming a reality for mechanical keyboards.
