Its not built yet I am still getting parts but after a power supply I have the CPU cooler and the memory to get but

I5 6600k

Xfx r9 390x

MSI gaming m5 motherboard

G skill ripjaws 5 (2x8)

Phanteks ph-tc12dx_bk

Corsair 120 mm AF 120mm x 3 and 1 sp 120 all led

Samsung 850 evo 500gb and WD blue 1tb

You should be able to get by with a 550W G2, but the 650W would allow you to run two GPU's for SLI.

Already have the 390x and my brother had a 390 and a friend has  480 with the same processor and my brother gets nearly 20 fps more in games at the same settings anyways and the 390x was in sale for 240 on newegg

Get the 650W. It will allow you to get a 2nd 390x if you find one for less than a better single will give you.

Corsair CX? If it was, it's due to bad design of the PSU itself.

I'd personally not put two cards that use upwards of 300W apiece in a build with a 650W PSU but that's just me.

Before I pull the trigger is the evga 650w g2 a good power supply? If not what would be better that is around 90 USD?

The 650G2 is probably the best PSU under $100.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Didn't know that thing used that much. Kind of good that the 480 uses less.

Yeah, a Guru3D article with the MSI Gaming edition of it (so mildly overclocked) ran at around 260W http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/msi-radeon-r9-390x-gaming-8g-oc-review,8.html

If you were to overclock that about as far as it could go (which you would do if you had two cards, let's be real here) then I'd bump it up.

I don't think that overclocking is advisable with SLI since the cards need to match clocks, but I see your point.
