What the hell is going on with DOTA 2?

I have had DOTA 2 installed for a while, because it's free so I might as well. I don't play it (I've only played 40mins), but something's been bugging me about it.

 

It requires updates CONSTANTLY. Seriously, every day without fail Steam decides it needs to update DOTA 2. Normally the patches are fairly small but some can be several hundred megabytes. Sometimes there can be two or even three updates released and applied in the space of a single day.

 

The constant requirement for updates doesn't bother me, per se, but my question is: why? Why are there updates released for this game, albeit small ones, every couple of hours? What the hell are Valve doing to it to necessitate such frequent updating?

It's like that for TF2 and CSGO too.

I don't hate that, no. I don't hate it when they're updated every single day like DOTA either. I just want to know why.

Do we know why, though? I thought maybe balance changes, since they're all competitive games, but surely they don't make balancing changes multiple times a day? And they can't possibly have so many bugs to make these updates bugfixes.

It's most likely big fixes.

Dota released a big update,massive actually. They should patchwork the fuck out off the game for some time, balancing and bug fixing.

Ultra is stupid. ALWAYS.

Yeah, I know 7.00 released a massive update a few days ago, but it did this before 7.00 too. Actually it's done this for as long as I can remember.
