Enough power?

So my friend currently has an iBuyPower PC with a 750ti but do you guys think that the PSU will be strong enough to drive a 1070 because there is a chance he might get one for Christmas, or a 1060

I know but I have tried to get him to read me the wattage and stuff but he isn't very knowledgeable with PCs.

A reference 1070 consumes around 500w and a reference 750ti consumes around 300w. Without knowing the wattage of the psu you wont be able to know.

A 750Ti consumes up to 75W (no PEG) or maybe 100W (OC) , a 1070 is around 150-200W typically. You quoted the PSU requirement from Nvidia. Basically if you use a shit PSU, you'll need a 500W unit to barely power it without causing an inferno.
