Im buying an overkill ssd for Christmas, would a m.2 or pcie ssd be faster?

Also which ever one is faster which brand should i get?

You should get an Intel 600p. It's an M.2 drive that's faster than any SATA drive (if you have a motherboard that can do NVMe), and doesn't cost an eye and a half.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

You can't go wrong with Samsung nvme m2 drives

The 960 pro is king but to be honest do you really need one of these?

You can't go wrong really with a 850 EVO m2 512gb

But if you have the cash.......

I beg to differ about the Intel 600p m.2 drive.  I had one for 3 days then went and got the Samsung evo 850 m.2 and it was much faster!

Some times you need to flash firmware onto the SDD to get it working properly and at full speed.

I've has both Intel and Samsung SATAIII and m2 nvme SSDS

They are both good.

The Samsung Magician software is just easier and more polished than the Intel equivalent for general consumers.

For example in 2015 it was known in order to get the Samsung 950 pro working at full speed you had to flash new firmware onto the earlier shipped drives. Or simply it would not perform.

Both Samsung and Intel regularly release software and firmware to support their drives.

Out of the two. Samsung slightly ahead as you get more bang for your Canadian Rubles
