I have an RC helicopter that's really nice, but the charger has a European plug on it. I have a usb cable with the same lead, but need a power brick to plug it into. I am very uneducated when it comes to electricity. The charger for the helicopter says 4.3V and 800mA. I have a brick that says 5V and 500mA, and my phone charger which says 5.2V and 2.4A. Can I use chargers with higher voltages and/or lower/higher amperages to charge the helicopter?

Don't use anouther charger, just get a travel adapter. Check to see if it runs on your local voltage. If you don't care about your life you can get some alagator clips and a pigtail and plug her in(don't do this), and use lots of tape if you do..

You can't hookup what I assume is a Li-po battery directly to a power source you will require a charge controller to proper charge the unit and not overdo it, where 2.4amp is way high for only a 800mA battery.

so will none of these chargers work at all?

I wouldn't connect that 2.4A adapter... You could try that 5v adapter. Might work, but slow. Don't use it if the RC helicopter was more then 50 euro/dollar/whatever.

Euro 220-240 volts charger in an US 110 volts socket? Lolz? Just don't forget to stand in a tub of water. (actually, I don't think you will get hurt that much)

if it is a lipo I do not want to mess with it. I think I will purchase a travel adapter for my charger. Thanks for the help

the charger is 100-240v

My electronics knowlage is very limited. But a charger needs X volts, and makes it Y percent less to get to Z volts. Change input voltage X, and your output voltage Z will change alot?

These chargers aren't standard voltage sources. They will be constant current uptill about 4.2v, then constant current for a bit. A 5v charger will kill the battery or make it go boomie.

@Electronics WizardySeems he should only charge it in 25 minutes bursts max. Also, did I hear a cow moaning when the battery went up in flames?

no you shouldn't use any other charger. Get a adapter its less than 10 bucks.
