Hey there!

I'm currently facing a major problem which is hindering my work on my PC. Basically whenever I boot up my system and run it over a time of 15-30 minutes, it will shut down randomly. It usually shuts down faster whenever I'm playing any games; however, recently whenever I boot up my system it will shut down immediately. It seems to be getting worse. Please let me know if you have any tips/solutions to these problems.

Specs:

asus-sabertooth-990fx-r2-0-motherboard

gtx 780ti

AMD FX(tm)-9370 Eight - Core Processor

EVGA 750 Bronze PSU

(2x4GB) Kingston 8GB RAM

h100i CPU Cooler

150GB Samsung SSD

1TB Wester Digital Drive

Thanks.

It's far too early to know anything with much confidence but my gut tells me it's a failing motherboard.  That is, assuming it's not just a software issue... have you tried running another OS or anything like that, just temporarily?

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

I have not tried running another OS, I currently have Windows 10. Is there any other possible methods I could try rather than switching the OS, as I'm not too experienced when it comes to that.

Seems like failing motherboard to me too. In the video, the fans never seemed to slow down. They were running at full power the entire time. When fans are running at full power and don't slow down, it's a tell tale sign that the system failed to post.

You can make and boot a Ubuntu Live USB stick for example and play around with that system without even touching - much less replacing - your existing system.  If that works, it suggests a Windows issue, but I think you'll find that will fail too, suggesting it's a hardware problem.

Thanks guys for the feedback.

Man! This really sucks if the Mobo is failing, is the main solution here to buy a new Mobo or can I fix it somehow?

I would try to confirm if that is in fact the problem first.  It's possible it's a software issue, assuming it can still boot into Windows at all, or a hardware issue of another sort, such as bad RAM.

This could very well be a variety of things, not just the motherboard.

Have you made any substantial changes to the system, be it hardware or software since you started encountering this issue?

From a quick search, this motherboard doesn't have integrated graphics? And is it possible that the system or a component is overheating? If not, try operating the system with single sticks of RAM in each slot to rule out RAM. If that clears, I'd put my money on the PSU or motherboard, but that would require further investigation.

I have tried out the ram and it's working properly. I have not made any changes to the build whatsoever during the time I've had it.

I don't believe it has integrated graphics as well.

I've been monitoring temps whenever I'm playing a game and they sit very cool, no sign of over-heating.

In that case, try grabbing Prime95 and/or Furmark to stress the load on the PSU. If you get consistent results with the system restarting or crashing soon after beginning those tests, it's most likely the PSU. Otherwise, the motherboard would be the other culprit unless you have a spare GPU around to swap and test.
