Synology quickconnect help!

Go to solution Solved by done12many2,

As a Synology QuickConnect user myself, I can tell you that you're going to want to get it up and running as soon as possible.  It's really a great feature of the Synology NAS systems.

From within the Synology UI, go to Control Panel and then to Advanced.  Make sure that "Enable QuickConnect relay srvice" and "Automatically create port forwarding rules" are both checked.  Then check any of the applications/services below that in order to allow appropriate permissions for whatever you want to use.

You may need to also go to Control Panel / External Access / Router Configuration in order to create addition port forwarding rules for each app that you want to use.  That setup is pretty self-explanatory.

Once you get your QuickConnect properly setup, the Synology systems really shine when combined with their mobile apps.

Here's a link to the Synology user forums.  Tons of information there and the Synology staff is constantly helping folks with problems specific to their own setups.

Good luck.

Been using a DS415play as a family NAS for a few years now. Since the release of DS Chat, I would be interested in being able to access my NAS from anywhere. It immediately seems like Synology answers this with quickconnect. I've signed in with my synology account, and given it a quickconnect link, but cannot connect from outside of local network. I'm not sure whether this is because I'm misinterpreting how quickconnect works, or whether our internet is too slow at home for it to connect properly (2Mbit down, ~1Mbit up).

On the offchance that anyone here uses Synology gear as opposed to Unraid (something I wouldn't mind experimenting with in the future), can anyone help?

If your moving files other than text files, Its gonna be slow. No other os will make this any faster.

The problems of living in the countryside in the UK! I'm not planning to use it properly remotely, just as a texting app server (DS Chat). So I wouldn't immediately think that it would be an issue. Additionally, it doesn't even get as far as connecting, let alone letting me transfer files or anything!
