Hey guys, I recently ordered the Hyper 212 EVO CPU cooler, with some premium thermal compound and I've got enough money to get a Noctua NF-P12 PWM 120mm fan.  I've never used noctua but they are apparently very quiet.  And whether I need a pressure optimized fan and whether I should even get a single noctua fan to replace the default one on the cooler.  I also want to know what you guys use as your cooler and how you cool your PC down. Because I want to get some cool ideas. Not only that but I might do a case mod in the future. I also want to know if I should put an exhaust fan at the top of my case with my CPU air cooler. Because I've ordered one but now I'm starting to think it might interfere with the cooling.

I would say cancel the Hyper 212 order and get something nicer, such as a Hyper 612.

Why, does the Hyper 212 EVO suck? I thought it was one of the best coolers?

It doesn't, at all. It's an amazing cooler for the money. Far from the best cooler, but still very good. I'm just saying, instead of wasting $25 on an overpriced brown fan, maybe explore better coolers.

Well, then is the default fan good?

The default fan is decent. Cancel the thermal paste. The 212 Evo has good paste that comes with it.

I'll see how it is once it arrives

Do that. See how it is before you start changing things out from it. If you don't push the fan too far, it's a rather quiet cooler.

Sweet! Ill just use the Asus optimal mode in the BIOS which overclocks my CPU to 4.5GHZ.  And I'm sure the hyper 212 evo can handle it.  The Stock cooler went to about 85 max, without throttle.  So I should be fine with the 212 evo.  I am also planning on getting a 840 EVO SSD by samsung. As people seem to love that drive around here. I wont upgrade my GPU, because a 660 will be a waste and all I do is play mc currently anyway!  I've also ordered another PSU a 600w silverstone strider plus 80+ silver and I've ordered a LED top exhaust fan.  And guess what... all that is around the price of a H100i here.

Sounds like you have either a nice chip or you have great case airflow. :)

A 212 can handle 4.2-4.4 depending on the the ambient temperature and what temps you're willing to accept, 4.5 might be a bit of a stretch.

yeah, its a core i7 3820, its quite good, and since its 2011 has quad channel and can withstand an absolute beating of heat.  The only prob with the SSD is that I tried to mount my hard drive cage and I totally failed. I also accidentally moved the magnetic screwdriver quite close to my hdd.  I hope it hasn't died :'(((

I mount my ssd to the back of my tray with duct tape. Maybe you can do the same.

The magnets inside of hard drives are one of the most powerful earth magnets in the world. It'll take a lot more than just a magnetic screwdriver to mess it up.

Sweet! thanks! I might mount mine using velcrow.  (I know this is out of subject) but what do you think of the Enermax NAXN tomahawk 2 psu. I was on a budget at the time, so I don't blame anyone but now its sparking and making loud hissing noises. Not only that but it seems that it sometimes makes noises like a dead water pump.

Enermax is not known for good psus. From a bit of reading about others who wouldn't touch that psu with a 10 foot pole, it looks like that psu wasn't exactly a good purchase. If it's making noises, you should probably get a new psu.
