6700k,the extra cores will just idle gaming isn't optimized for anything more then 4-8 threads currently. Programming is as cpu intensive as writing word documents.

6700k.

 

Only go 6 cores if you're gonna video edit or stream. Even then, you shouldn't go for a 6850k, but rather a 6800k.

6700k. As the earlier replies states, 6700k is both cheaper and better performing in games than 6850k.
