Hey LTT forum I need some feedback on a few things before my next upgrade if you care to share your opinion with me

I've got a shitty phenom II x2 555 (dual core cpu @3.2ghz) and it doesn't not unlock to more cores unfortunately

paired with a 785GM-P45 motherboard.

Had them from a previous computer, and just needed to get a computer up and running before school started.

Now all of this is paired with a sapphire 7850 1gb gpu, and some 1600mhz Crucial DDR3 (4gb).

This motherboard has issues it's freaking cranky all the time, coming out of sleep mode does weird things, and is just not adequate for play bf4

What would be a good combo cpu, and motherboard for my next upgrade

trying to stay micro-atx, or smaller form factor, so i don't have to buy a new case for the hardware.

I really want to play some battlefield 4 for about 300 bucks ish, what's adequate that won't bottleneck my gpu?

I'm a college student and trying to not break the bank with a new upgrade

yep pretty much 200-300 ish $ from any online retailer would do :) sorry for not saying that.

if you can get a ASUS P8Z77M - Pro and a 3570K if you can afford it.

Well, I don't really need sli capability, or 3x PCI express slots. That's kinda over 300 bucks to.

Can you justify spending that much on a cpu and motherboard? such as, will last some time before one has to upgrade your cpu

u really shouldnt go anything cheaper than the asrock.

I agree it's just that I'm not saying I should go super super cheap-ass mode on a motherboard that got me into trouble with the pos motherboard I've got now. But I'm saying that I don't need the feature set of all those PCI express lanes, all I'd do is just slap a single gpu, wireless card, and maybe a sound card in there.

I'm currently in the same boat with a sketchy mobo and old chipset with about a 300$ budget. I've done quite a bit of research on the asrock 970 extreme and think its probably the best mobo in this range. Coupled with a fx-6300 in a newegg bundle thats going on right now its only 204$ undercutting the budget by 100$.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/lmqa for the combo

youtube of you're card and this cpu on BF4 beta

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Qc6w3rFl1U From what I've heard the beta was 5-10 fps less than on release.  Also when mantle comes out it should utilize all 6 cores of the CPU so hopefully it will surpass an i5 on bf4. Hope this info helps

Just re-read your post.. I feel dumb for my post now. Don't know much about mATX boards so no recommendation there, but I would stick with the FX-6300 if your building specifically for BF4
