What CPU cooler should I get?

Hey everyone. I'm kind of stuck in this situation. I'm in need of a cpu cooler that'll handle som overclocking of course, but I don't know which one to go with. I originally found a Dryorig H7, but then I switched to the 212 Evo as it seems to be the most popular and tested one. Someone recommended me the Cryorig H5 Ultimate or whatever it's called, (but I'm not really into specs on CPU coolers), so I though it was/is worse because it has 3 less CPM? I must be missing some knowledge on CPU cooler specs, and that's also why I'm writing this.

Any recommendations for a poor little danish guy?

PC: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bzkfxY with the Evo 212 as it stands now.

Thank you

Best regards, Mikkel

@MValuableP, I'd suggest you get a Cryorig M9i as you can see HERE it performs the same, if not better, than the 212 Evo for a lower price. :)

Uuuh, thanks, I'll have a look :)

So what do you think about the cooler? Have you made your choice? :)

H7 and 212 Evo are about at same level. Same goes with M9i. Only thing that makes H7 and M9i better is their lower price in some regions. 212 has for long time been the one budget cooler but now there are more alternatives. Its still most widely available one.

What's CPM? Did you mean CFM? If so, that only refers to the airflow of the fan. The heatsink size and design makes up most of the performance.

The H7 is a bit better than the 212 Evo and whether it's the better choice will depend on pricing and how much you're willing to spend.

What are you looking for in a cooler?

Yeah it's probably CFM then, I don't remember tbh.

And I don't know what I'm looking for other than overclock ability and decent cpu temperatures like everyone else?

I'm willing to spend around the $40 max really, but add 25% to the price you find because of VAT to Denmark (if you find it on an american website)

You should be comparing benchmarks to see how each cooler performs.

Can you link us to where you're shopping?

That's where I don't know what to look at. I don't know what specs there are to be considered in a CPU cooler.

I'm shopping at computersalg.dk, but any website will do because I'm probably going to get the product through my local IT-support dude, that can get them for me cheaper.

When it comes to picking a cooler, you have to make sure that it supports your socket, doesn't interfere with your ram, and isn't too tall for your case.

Asides from that, see how well it performs under the highest load compared to other coolers.

The cooler to go with will often depend on pricing. If your IT-support dude can get different discounts on certain items, that would shake up what might be the best option to go with.

The site doesn't use dollars. What's your actual budget in kroner?

The case is the NZXT S340, and my RAM is the Kingston Hyper X  Savage 2x8GB :)

Is there a special site that has a lot of benchmarks for coolers?

My tech dude says he'll be able to get some nice discounts, but not exactly how much.

Around 400-500 kroner as I saved 200 kroner on a PSU :)

There are many sites with benchmarks and reviews. Take them all with a grain of salt and be sure to make comparisons between their results to eliminate any outliers.

Asides from the 212x, some other good alternatives include:

Pure Rock: https://www.computersalg.dk/i/2226797/be-quiet-pure-rock-processor-koler

Ereboss: https://www.computersalg.dk/i/1027516/raijintek-ereboss-processor-koler

Ninja 4: https://www.computersalg.dk/i/1146643/scythe-ninja-4-scnj-4000-processor

Do you have a link for one you've used or know of?

Thanks for the suggestions, which one would you choose if you had the option?

And should I also pick after the thermal paste that comes with them or should I get some Arctic Silver either way because it's better?

Best regards, Mikkel

Look at as many as you can get your eyes on.

The included thermal paste is fine.

Out of the 3, I'd go with the Pure Rock which is the cheapest and quietest since I'm a stickler for noise.

Thank you, I will :)

Do you know of any software from be quiet! ? I'm also going to get their Silent 3 fans for the case, so maybe they have something?

There isn't any software from BeQuiet! as far as I know. Why do you ask?

I just wanted to know. Might have been some tweaks or other cool stuff for the fans.

If you're looking for fan control, you can do that from your motherboard settings.
