Yes, that is how you're suppose to do it.

There is no one cable that has a 6 pin and 8 pin (or 14 pin I suppose).

Well there are dual 6+2 cables

They come with most modern modular PSU's

yea, but I meant like one cable with 14 pins on it. If you have something with an 8 pin connector, you need to plug in an 8 pin cable (or 6+2 as mentioned)

I have a cable which is a 6+2 so i Will use that one and then the other cable with 6

Sorry, I'll disagree with you here. My graphics card cable out of my modular PSU has 2 "6+2" connectors on it. So I could plug in both a 6 pin and 8 pin from the same cable. I don't think I would, because that's probably not right, but I COULD.
