is it worth it if i buy 32gb ecc ram? instead of 16gb hyperx fury ram.
my spec : i7 6700k
                gtx 1070 founder edition
                silverstone 700w power supply

im using my computer as workstation such like forex trading, web browsing (lot actually), video editing (sony vegas pro, after effect, premier), photo editing, autocad, and also playing csgo . is it worth the money? if not i will stick to 16gb ram instead.

Does your motherboard support ECC? Does your CPU support ECC?

CPU does not support ECC, so no.

I should add that you can still use the 32GB of RAM without ECC support.

Isn't ECC Memory something meant only for Servers that can not afford to go offline ever? That's why they are meant to work with Xeon processors no? For a personal workstation it makes not much of a sense, 16gb ram is enough for a lot of stuff but given how you're likely to be editing a lot of video and high resolution content the 32gb will make sure you never run out of it, with these specs you'll also be able to play a lot more than CS:GO.

ECC memory is for environments where memory integrity is critical (like a single bit flip could ruin some data). Hence the name Error Correcting Code.

That said, don't think ECC is needed in every computer - no, you don't need it. You will not lose your data on the HDD when a bit flips.

ECC ram does what it says, and prevents errors in the ram system. It isn't necessarily to keep the servers running, as critical systems will have redundancy built in. It is to prevent errors while they are running. Even ram that is working correctly could, due to external influences, produce an error. Extremely rare, but not impossible. Some things you can't afford to have errors, and that is where you get ECC ram.

Also ECC support isn't limited to Xeons. You might be surprised to see that many Celeron, Pentium and i3 processors support ECC. This seems to be a nod from Intel for low cost server applications where a full Xeon isn't required. I have two HPE made servers, one each with Celeron and Pentium, which run ECC ram. Note they need chipset support also, so consumer systems are unlikely to support ECC even if the CPU does.
