corsair H40, is it the way to go beginner wise?

No, it's not worth the money. I'd grab a Hyper 212 EVO instead.

Nope. Grab a nicer cooler, like an H100i, or an air cooler, such as a Hyper 212 EVO, Hyper 612 or Noctua NH-D14.

For a beginner the best way to go is an AIO. So a H40 would be the correct choice for the beginner.

 

The issue with your choice of AIO; the H40, is that it isn't very good. Hence, everyone recommending air coolers.

 

You will proably want a H80i or above to get a decent first watercooling experience.

 

The main proablem with any AIO for a beginner is that you do not have to set-up any watercooling. Buying an AIO and building a loop is completely different.
