HP Envy DV7

I put a new SSD in my mother's HP Envy DV7. After I installed the SSD, wouldn't even POST. Put the old HDD back in, nothing. Tried to turn it on without something in (either) SATA port, boots and POSTs fine. WTF. Help please.

Have you tried plugging the battery in or plugging it's AC adaptor in?

 

Joking aside, when you have a drive installed, does it 'turn on'?

No, the only way I can get the UEFI to appear and the device to actually "power on" is when no drive is plugged in. I think it's a bad proprietary SATA connector.
