First this was a thread about what mod manager is best cus I was tired of NMMs bullshit, but now that there are no other managers for FO4, I'm stuck with NMM. So go down a few posts to where I found the issue and please try to help. To summarize it, something is blocking NMM's access to my " Data\meshes\actors\character\characterassets " folder and won't let me uninstall or install mods causing NMM to crash each time I try.

Well. Your only other option is Mod Organizer.

Unless you can manage the mods yourself(Some people do).

I have over 130 mods, that would be silly. Is mod organizer the only other option? How good is it? I'm just  tired of nexus it keeps freezing and restarting on me and just being supa gay

I use the steam workshop or good old file manager. You know, the free one that come with windows.
That's how I did minecraft maps and texture packs.

But I highly doubt you had 130 minecraft maps, I need something to handle tons of mods. I'm trying mod organizer, can't be all that bad since it has like 3 million downloads.

if you downloaded them all, can't you just drag them into the addons folder? I did that for when L4d2 wouldn't let me use workshop items offline.

Well It's pissing me off already, first the installer didn't work so now I tried extract version and that's working but its asking for my game folder so I did exactly what anybody else would do, C > program files x86 > steam > steamapps > common > fallout 4 and it says invalid file path and shows no game there but then when I open the folder manually I can clearly see my game and all the files. It's like nothing wants to work for me today. :|

Does it not even support fallout yet? I just saw a post a year ago of someone else with the same issue and someone responded saying it doesn't support it.

I keep getting crashes everytime I try to uninstall a mod, I re-install fallout 4 due to some errors with files, I I was trying to go through NMM and " re-active " all my mods, well some refuse to do it so I instead try to uninstall completely and I would just get them back again, but no matter what I click it crashes the whole thing. Here is a trace log. The mod in particular (its happened with multiple though) is Vivid fallout bridges.

Okay what game are you playing exactly before we start talking about mod organizer

Mod organizer for skyrim should work fine as long as you follow videos (skip to the important parts) of how to do it, same for fallout 3 and new vegas << all follow the same method of how things are done with MO

Oblivion (steam), you have to do some workarounds with MO but its not really that hard

Fallout 4: Don't bother with MO, it is in an extreme beta state and probably not being worked on as much

Hi I know your struggle with the nexusmodmanager it never worked good for me. sadly the only other option for FO4 is modorganizer 2 because modorganizer does not support 62 bit programs and Mo2 does. this is not a very good choice sadly because of Mo2 being no longer developed.

this may all sound very sad but there is some good reason why Mo2 is not being developed anymore.

there is an new modmanager coming http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/news/12905/? .

The guy that build the amazing first modorganizer which I still use for Skyrim while build in cooperation with the nexus team build a new organizer thast has the best of both the NMM and MO so just wait something good is coming.

Well, unfortunately NMM is the only thing you can turn to so far in terms of modding or going to bethesda's website for your mods (which will most likely run fine with the game)

Mod organizer for fallout 4 is no longer supported by the developer and probably will cause more hassles than your NMM..Wish NMM would implement MO mechanics then it would be worthwhile

I'm working on doing a complete uninstall of NMM and I'm going to try getting all the mods again, I think the problem is I added like 130 to the list THEN started activating them 1 by 1 but that might have caused some sort of issue, maybe I should add the mod then install, then rinse and repeat. I'm using revo uninstaller to get rid of anything NMM, it even cleans out the registry.

All traces of NMM and Fallout 4 have been scrubbed clean, did a system reboot, now re-install Fallout 4. Then I'll edit the ini files & get NMM, if you get NMM before you edit them for some reason it will keep telling you that you have no ini files to launch the game, nothing fixes it, so ill do it in that order.

I am getting so salty. Again, even after all of that scrubbing clean of the HDD making sure there wasn't a single trace of either the game or NMM left, I got NMM back and all my mods were STILL THERE! Again, I went to uninstall them and it crashed AGAIN. I cannot win!!!!

It looks like the problem is here but I have no idea what it means or how to fix it, says access to a folder is denied but why? I am in admin mode. I ran NMM in admin mode.

Ok yep confirmed, w/e is blocking access to my fallout " Data\meshes\actors\character\characterassets " is causing the issue, I just tried removing a CBBE mod which needs access to that folder, and it crashed again. So does anybody know how to fix this?

Just to install certain mods in a Bethesda game you may have a lot of files residing in Data, Data/textures, Data/meshes, Data/scripts, or others. To completely remove a mod manually can be a chore since you'll need to reference the original files to get a list of what needs to go and from what folders. But on top of that, It's not uncommon for files in mods to overlap with one another, and you'll need to decide on a case-by-case basis whether to overwrite or not. This can potentially turn into a huge mess if you ever decide to remove a mod that once overwrote another mod's file, since that file will now be missing completely. Once you get to 50+ mods (shockingly easy with Skyrim), resolving these without a third-party app can become very unmanageable.

If it was just as simple as dropping files into an "Addons" folder, I'd agree you don't really need much more than Windows Explorer. I have a lot of mods for The Witcher 3, but those all just drop into a "mods" folder (though an app to resolve script conflicts is still necessary) and so NMM is not as necessary.
