Replacement mouse for razer naga?

tobben

Hi folks, my stoneage razer naga is finally

dying on me. Figured i would try to buy a

replacement today, my budget is probably

around 30-60$.

The razer naga is abit small, i probably have

medium sized hands, so i'm looking for

something abit bigger. Hopefully a few macro

buttons(not as many as the naga), and the

buttons on the left mouse would be great to

have if possible.

Picture to clarify.

Any recommendations? Not sure if i care about

mechanical keys and such on a mouse, as long

as they last a long time.

Not sure i have a weight preference, but i think

medium as opposed to super light might be

preferable. I dabble in fps but they aren't the

main games i play.

As someone that used an old Naga and got the current one this year I'd say Razer is making larger Naga's than they used to. But unless you are playing MMO's the Naga is not really designed for you and the Naga Hex is made for Moba's. They are very specific use cases.

@DELTAprime I play mmo, moba, fps, rpg,

you name it :P.

About the naga being bigger, no kidding..

I was at the store and tried it out, my naga

is so small i got to curl my fingers to use it.

The current naga is so big i can't even use

the 12 buttons properly with my thumb, it's

just too big, much bigger and wider than my

old one, huge in comparison.

With too little thought i ordered a naga hex,

hopefully it will fit my hands and have decent

buttons.. It will arrive in 1-2 days, fingers

crossed. Far more expensive than i thought it

would be, 107 bucks, insane.

This one, don't like the design or shape now

that i look at it again, oh well.

(I am not really going by your budget, Ill try but its hard cause ill be going through the barebones)

Would you be okay with just a bunch of macros around the mouse instead of a numpad on the thumb cause the only direct alternative to this is corsair scimitar, also being 119mm so pretty much the same size as the naga.

The scimitar having the better sensor, 3988 over the 2034 on the Naga

For reference the Deathadder Chroma, a very good mouse and great sensor, the 3989 comparable to the 3988.

Overall the Scimitar is pretty much the better naga if you are looking for a direct alternative

As for other alternatives I say G502 or G900 for the oh so famous 3366 fan favorite sensor. Both having a great feel Solid build and great MCU as well which is a plus for the software customization.

I think i prefer the thumb, want to move the

mouse accurately while using the buttons.

I can't imagine being able to use any of the

mice with awkward buttons everywhere :P

It looks like i am gambling with the razer

naga hex, even if it doesn't seem all that

appealing, and i didn't even get to try it at

the store. Hopefully it will work out. Thanks

for the input @Aytex.

I very much considered the deathadder

chroma, seemed like a nice fit and not too

expensive, but i didn't want to be stuck with

two buttons.

Going to miss those two buttons on the left

mouse button though, so great when you

are just browsing.

The Steelseries Rival 500 is a fairly new mouse and seems to cover your needs. It has more buttons than the Naga Hex, a waaaay better sensor and the best thing is - it's not a calculator mouse, so there's a somewhat proper thumb rest.

That looks interesting actually, would like

to give it a try. Does the hex have a shitty

sensor? i hope not, because it's horrifyingly

expensive.

Both the old and the new one (the V2) have some form of a Philips Twin Eye laser sensor (rebranded under a different name by Razer). It has a Z-axis tracking issue, which results in an unwanted behaviour when lifting the mouse. The Rival 500 has the best optical sensor currently available - the PWM3360. I seriously feel like Razer uses these laser sensors only to boast high DPI numbers on the box.

@Pandalf Pretty sure my naga does the

same thing. Annoying but not deal breaking,

granted it doesn't seep into other things.

I have the sensitivity on max, so it's hard to

tell.

The original Naga and the Hex have the same sensor. If you didn't find it a problem, then it's okay, but I'd still suggest getting something with an optical sensor instead.

I ended up with a razer chroma deathadder..

I waited 3 days and apparently they didn't have

the hex after all.

If i knew it would turn out like this, i would just

have taken my time and ordered a proper

mouse online.

What's done is done, it sits nicely in my hand,

seems like a decent mouse, just not nearly

enough buttons for my playstyle.. my pinky

and ring finger are also scraping on the

mouse pad.

How come you didn't go for Elite? Iirc it has a new sensor and the build quality should be a bit better.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

Didn't have it in store, also currently a fair

bit more expensive than the deathadder,

atleast here. On par with the naga and hex.

Oh right, Norway. I just assume everyone here is from US or Canada and it's $66 on Amazon. ^_^
