I got mine from Kinguin and its working effective since Aug 2016

For cheap copies of windows I use G2A or Kinguin. They are both reputable sites and have windows for much cheaper compared to other stores.

It's for a laptop. I don't really see the benefits of a non OEM key. Unless there is something I missed. Is there? (It's very likely LOL). Normally my Win 10 keys are provided by the firm, but this one's personal.

Kinguin is not a good site to buy from. The keys are not gotten through legitimate or legal means, which gives developers more reason to implement more DRM.

Depends on how often you upgrade. There's nothing wrong with using OEM or Retail keys.

Aren't most OEM keys like that. I mean are there any practical disadvantages of using a OEM key. I would KMSpico this shit, but I need my system to be legally activated for business purposes.

OEM keys bought from certified retailers (Best Buy, a good deal of local shops, Newegg), are completely legal.

Kinguin and G2A, those keys are illegally obtained by the resellers.

Then there is also the issue of the EULA forbidding the use of an OEM license for a personal machine (Although if obtained through a certified retailer, Microsoft doesn't care 99% of the time).

 

The best solution is wait to buy a retail key for the version you have/want, and then you can transfer it to new machines if needed/wanted.

Most keys are sold by those who have volume licenses for pre-built PC's. If you remember Linus's video where he mentions having the licenses in case someone complains, he has likely bought them via volume and not through a retailer.

 

There's very little reason to think that you'll be affected by a lock-down or deactivation and if you are the cost of another license is still much less than a license from Best Buy.

 

And assuming that the poster uses the case of the EULA, the EULA isn't legally binding.

for this reason buy off a legitimate store. Kinguin's way of selling does not give you a license, it just gives you a way of circumventing Microsofts DRM & copyright protection. You do not have to pay money to break the EULA. The practical disadvantage is you risk your computer one day no longer being authentic and you have to spend hours on the phone talking to MS customer services about your dodgy purchase

Yup, they can, and have blacklisted the keys G2A and Kinguin sell.

I don't have any experience with MS Swap, it isn't like a conventional reseller and I refuse to buy outside of a certified retailer.

 

It's a seller's market, so there can be legitimate deals, and shody deals, but mostly the former.

They do not track where OEM gets sold in a responsible way, they just sell them and have no real supply chain logistic in tracking where they end up. They just record the activations and do deny activation after a number of repeat attempts. If the keys were not OEM but VL then they definitely disable them

I personally had Windows XP a very long time ago get deactivated. Windows XP was pirated to hell.

Did you contact Microsoft for help? They helped me when my Win 7 license was deactivated.

when you call MS from NZ you get re-directed to some black hole dimension. We left the phone on for a bout 3 hours and it just dc itself, never got to talk to anyone.
