Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 3 Review

Dredgy

Well, it's a bluetooth speaker, but it has to be plugged in to get the most out of it...

Watch to get the most detail

Pros

  • Well built
  • Stylish
  • Great microphone
  • Phenomenal sound quality
  • Does have a carry handle for hanging
  • Seriously, phenomenal sound quality

Cons

  • Big and unportable. Weird for a wireless speaker.
  • Connectivity issues. Seems somewhat susceptible to interference. But damned if I can narrow it down.
  • Stupid buttons can't be found in the dark.
  • Mediocre battery life, at best.
  • Speakers run at half power when not plugged in, so have to plug it in to power for best sound quality. Again, weird for a wireless speaker

Conclusion

Ergonomically, not my kind of speaker since it's cumbersome to travel with and has features that annoy me, but might not others. The sound quality though is worth putting up with everything else, at least until I find something that sounds better. Is (as the name suggests) a speaker that's meant to sit on your desk in your studio and be plugged in. Bluetooth is a secondary concern it seems.
