I7 4790 and asrock b85m-dgs

I currently have:

I5 4460

Asrock b85m-dgs

16gb ddr3 1600mhz

500w 80+ psu

250gb samsung ssd

Nzxt s340

I want to buy the i7 4790 non K. Will my mobo work properly with this new cpu? Or do i need a new mobo as well?

I can buy the cpu for 300 euros (new) and sell the 4460 for like 140.

i will give you an advice, that cpu will run strong, just wait for zen/zen+ or cannonlake to be a worthy upgrade

Zen at its best will only match Haswell, and its far cheaper to just get an i7 4790 that will work without any additional costs...

It will work just fine-though I recommend that you update the motherboard to the latest BIOS version to ensure that its compatible. I've run my 4790K for uite a while on my Asus H87M Pro without any issues (I upgraded from an i5 4440)

So, is 200 euros investing in a old cpu like i7 4790 a good deal?

It will be good for everything for a long time, though if you could get one, a 4790K would last even longer due to its higher base clock, and unlocked multiplier. Since it uses the multiplier you should be able to overclock safely (my 4790K managed 4.8GHz on my H87M Pro, though not as stable as when I started using it on my Z97 Sabertooth MKII)

Edit: Its OK, but it does seem a bit towards the high side for an i7 4790.

It won't bottleneck it, unlike your current i5 4460 (i5 aren't doing as well in newer games-including Fallout 4).

Am i risking if i buy a i7 4790 without warranty?

Not really, since it is a locked i7, meaning that there won't be any possible degradation from overclocking (which is always a risk with any used i7 4790K). It will be fine for a long time.

I'm not sure, but the temperature should be well below 70oC with it mounted correctly (I'm going off my Siedon 120V, which is about eual to a Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo, which would be a lot weaker than the Macho 120 SBM).
