EVO 212 + 2011-3 issues

hi guys,

 

im in the middle of my first build right now, and I'm struggling.

 

i put on slightly too much thermal paste, and it started squeezing off the edge. Not sure if it was supposed to, but I ended up wiping off the edges with my sleeve.... Now I'm not sure if there's too little.... but that's not my real issue lol.

 

My Cooler Master EVO 212 is screwed in as tight as I can tighten it, but when I stand my case up, it hangs down a bit, so it's not completely touching my CPU.

Using an Asus aa - 2 2011-13 motherboard btw

 

im so nervous I'm going to damage something in the middle of all this mayhem. Hoping someone can help me get this thing installed properly.

any words of wisdom are very appreciated.

Looks like you placed the brackets upside-down.

The bracket that is screwed in?

I would have to flip the screws around to install it in reverse, and it came with the screws in place.

 

Or are you talking about something else?

Ok, just gave it a second go and I think my issue was that it wasn't locked into that little sub where the bracket meets the plate.

Should I be worried about the thinning of my thermal paste?

There should be enough. Do you still have some paste left over?

Nope, found the real issue.

I'm using the big standoffs as opposed to the small ones!

So it's too far away from the CPU

lol I'm new to this, I wen't off of good video reviews and a couple recommendations.

I really wish I woulda gotten a cooler with thermal paste pre-applied. This stuff weirds me out
