How to ground myself.

Being serious though, as long as you don't slide your feet on the carpet while your building you don't really need to take such insane precautionary steps. I built my computer barefoot on carpet and it's been fine for a year now. I just set the Motherboard on the box it came in and went from there.

All my parts for my PC have come in and I'm eager to start building, but I want to be absolutely sure not to shock anything. What should I do? I have an anti-static wrist strap thing too. Should I install the PSU, plug it in (but keep it off) and attach myself to the case? This seems like a good idea, but I'm not sure. Thanks :D

What I did is just building the thing bare foot and standing on solid flooring: Just anything but carpet.

You'll never build enough static to zap components. Carpet is the real killer here. You can touch the case, psu etc (if connected via a grounded cable) or just some central heating radiator or so.

Keep one hand on the outside of the power supply with it plugged in. That will keep the PSU grounded and thus you will be grounded.

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/

F#cking casuals. Proper method to building is to stand on carpet while dancing to Cha-Cha-Slide with bunny slippers.

If I had carpet, I would make a YouTube video of this.

Just touch the case occasionally, as if it's a woman.

Make sure the case consents first! You don't want that awkward moment when you flip your switch and... nothing.

Get a shovel, dig a shallow hole, place bare feet in ground, cover up feet with the previously removed dirt.

I could die happy from how much laughter and enjoyment I would get from watching something so silly.  ?

Side note: Now I want bunny slippers.  Or maybe just a bunny.  I'm flexible.  lol
