Cryoig M9i troubles

Go to solution Solved by DarkWater,

Just thought I'll update anyone that cares:

I contacted Cryorig and they got back to me and confirmed that it was a genuine problem. Apparently, the issue I experienced was the first "out in the wild" (quote from them) and has a 1% occurrence in testing. It's very rare to have all 4 screws as loose as they were. I mean they weren't just slightly loose, they were extremely loose, they came out about nothing and it was almost impossible to keep them secure. They never snap. The snap was non-existent. The screws were victims of gravity and just fell out because nothing was stopping them from falling.

They sent me a new backplate and a new set of screws for free and it was perfect. Everything went smoothly. I could continue with the installation as painless as the guy did in the video.

I wasn't going to get anywhere with the backplate/screws I originally had and it was likely going to result in improper contact between the heatsink and CPU. I couldn't risk that and I'm glad Cryorig knew what I was talking about.

I'm having difficulties installing the m9i cooler on my Asrock Extreme4 z170 mobo

The manual instructs me to put the hexagon pillars into the inner hole on the backplate (with intel marker facing up) until I hear the pillars "snap-lock", However, they don't seem to snap into place and just keep coming out if a little force is applied, which is a problem when I try to fit it onto the motherboard.

I've watched the YouTube video but it's not helping :S

  • 2 weeks later...

I used same motherboard and cooler same as you and find this problem too.

But, it's done. I installed the backplate first and place the screw on the outer hole one side, and the inner hole one side. and screw the black metal plate first to the heatsink and placing it to screw that i put before in the backplate.

Instruction on the book say that you must install the backplate and the black metal plate first, then you go the heatsink. but it wont work.

Hope it will help :)
