I overclocked my G1 Gaming 1080 using the XTREME GAMING app but my pc became unstable and when i check the overclock it had gone up from +115mhz to +300mhz and a second time it went up to +135mhz. Why is it changing and how can i fix it?

Update: My pc was really unstable as the OC kept going up and at some points i couldn't even boot my pc so i lowered the OC and it seems okay now.

GPU Boost 3.0.

With GTX 10 cards, you can't push the clocks up very high, because GPU boost will push it further, even if it isn't stable to do so. I can't set an offset over 100MHz, yet I can easily see +250-300MHz improvements due to GPU Boost.

Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

Everybody turns to dust.

The blood is on your hands.

The blood is on your hands!

Pyo.

With GPU Boost 3.0 manual overclocking isn't as cut and dry like it used to be,  temperature plays a big part in stability of the overclock. IE, my 1080 strix hits 2100mhz no problem if I keep the card under 60c,  as soon as it passes 60c my overclock drops.  Plus there's the new gradient control for voltage in relation to frequency but I haven't played around with that to much.

Apparently it also takes into account the GPU fan speed, IIRC. So if you have a conservative fan profile, increasing that a bit might yield higher sustained boost clocks.
