What up,

how many extra fps can I expect when buying another Geforce GTX 970 Zotac AMP Extreme Edition? It is way cheaper than buying a 1070 instead the 970 but how much more performance will it give? Will it be close to a 1070 performance?

PS: I have an i7 4790k, 16gb RAM

It depends on the game, but the highest you will likely see is ~80% additional performance.

970 sli is generally a fraction above that of a 980ti, but less than a 1070 in the games that SUPPORT SLI. I just dropped 970 SLI for my 1080, however I had a very good experience in that 18 months, only Just Cause 3 caused me issues.

However and a big HOWEVER - 3.5gb/4gb vram (depends what camp you're in) is quickly becoming the normal amount for a game to use at 1080P and SLI doesn't offer anymore VRAM due to the way it works. If I was you (keep in mind what I did) I would sell the 970 whilst their prices are decent and grab a 1070. That card will last you longer due to the 8gb vram and will offer you the option of 1070 sli later

Well that does not tell me anything. Do you know anything certain for a specific kind of game?

Well, what games do you plan on playing?

Very Much Depends on the Resolution. At 4K 970 SLI gets hampered by It's low VRAM and the 980Ti and 1070 beat it.
