I am looking for some good stuff to say, when I'm discussing with people on other forums. People constantly say Alienware is really overpriced, and that they would recommend some shitty brand, just because it's cheaper. I AM TALKING LAPTOP HERE. JUST LAPTOPS!

Stuff I have so far is:

1) Very good cooling compared to others. Better cooling = Better performance, aye?

2) They don't use cheap plastic, and what they build actually holds.

3) They make liquid cooled lappys, which I find pretty cool

So basically I just need more of that. I know that a $500 (maybe even close to $1000) difference is a lot, but Alienware isn't just overpriced and you don't just buy the brand.

Discuss? lol

imo an MSI or even Lenovo multimedia laptop are better than alienwares in terms of performance. for equivalent pricing.
alienware laptops are quality laptops but i think there is always a better alternative

I don't disagree to better options at all. I disagree to Alienware being overpriced and that you just buy the brand name.

http://www.geek.com/chips/liquid-cooling-lets-the-alienware-m18x-run-at-4-4ghz-1477433/ - Not sure if that's good enough. They liquid cooled a M18X (maybe even M17X) together with Asetek.

One other thing to consider is that their customer service is pretty awesome. They do this by way of throwing out upgrades when your stuff breaks.

ok:

My brothers MX17R3 [3500€] constantly overheated -> BSOD.

Once you tried to update the GPU drivers from the Dell page -> BSOD.

Once the home support exchanged a few parts of the laptop -> BSOD even more frequently.

This thing had 98°C on the CPU when running LoL. [Was clean, came back from service basically completely new]

Alienware and Asus laptops are amogst the worst you can buy. I'll buy a MBP before I buy an Alienware.

You sure it's not your brother's laptop which failed? Some faulty part? Pretty sure there's something wrong with the hardware, if pretty much you do results in BSOD.

The laptop had Mobo / HDD / Coolers exchanged.

The laptop was completely exchanged 2x. No, it's Alienware. [buddy has similar problems with his MX11]
