amd I'm upgrading my setup for rendering

Hey everyone

 

I'm going to upgrade my setup  to increase my rendering times. I'm using Autodesk Maya for my final dissertation project at University and I need to make animations every week so I really need to be able to render pretty fast.

In my current setup I have:

AMD Fx 8350

GTX 960

12GB DDR3 RAM

500W PSU

 

I was going to upgrade to a 1080 but then I thought I could get a 1060 and get an i7 6700k but that means getting a new motherboard. 

 

Basically I'm asking what would you suggest to upgrade to get dat rendering time!

My budget is around £600 ($750, €700)

I mean, what PSU do you have exactly?

I, by no mean, am an expert in this, but my girlfriend does use Maya and X ray (I believe), and she told me the graphics card you have almost doesn't matter. The think you absolutely need is as many cores as possible.

If you're looking for a pure render time boost, used/new xeon will yield a much better result than any i5, i7, and extreme processor will

CPU>GPU when it comes to rendering. 

If I were you I will buy a quad core CPU (at least) an i5, or if you have the budget go for an i7. 

And your GPU is fine for now.

I'd get a better quality PSU while your at it too then.
