CPU overclockling temps and safety

I'm overclocking my CPU and learning the basics, I got my i5-4690k to 4.6Ghz with 1.25v, haven't tried lower voltage yet, it ran stable and it topped 78C in prime95 small fft's.

I could run my CPU 4.4Ghz 1.18v , it runs much cooler.

Is 78C max a safe temp and worth the perfomance boost from 4400Mhz to 4600Mhz?

Thanks in advance!

IT is safe. speically using prime95...

Shud use aida64 for haswell...

Anyway....

The boost from 4.4 to 4.6 is like 3%,

I would turn it down to 4.4 for lower temp. but thats just me.

IF you play games, i would turn it down to 4.4 as it would make no change...

If it is for rendering or huge tasks, then I would keep that 4.6 ghz set up

Okay thanks :) Should I change my CPU ring bus to 4.4Ghz aswell even if it takes more than 1.18v that I use for the core voltage?

You are pretty close to hitting temp limits. Anything up to and including 85C is fine. As for voltage you can use up to 1.4V as long as temps don't go over 85C.

Yes thanks, I think I have a pretty good chip but my cooler is a little bit, yeah not good xD. I'm thinking of upgrading it.

Currently got the Hyper 212 evo from Cooler master, any suggestions for new one?

Not worth. Keep that cooler.

Spending money to achieve 1% better performance wich will not be noticeable is not a good idea.

Coolermaster 212 evo is good for your set up.

I had a 4690k with that cooler, and I was oc'd it to 4.6 for 77-78 max temp.

What is your current RAM speed?

What is it supposed to run at with XMP on? I would definitely turn on XMP. There is actually a noticeable difference when we are talking 2000+ DDR3 vs 1600.
