I know I said earlier he can't OC it, but don;t you think the stock performance gains for the like $20 increase still make sense?

Hmmmm looked the first one, is that processor good? (That's cheaper than the i5 6500 too you coulda said this a lot earlier if its better than the 6500 or something idk) the GPU looks nice for the first one, the ram might be nice. (Also my system info says I have 8 maybe it was upgraded after it was bought or something.

then you can get only 8 ram and add the other one from your old one. most likely it's ddr3

I agree with non k i5.

I tried finding 8gb ddr4 for 30 USD but everything seems to be near 40 or more.

If you take @Thinkfreely's build and drop to a 6500, and if you want, also to the stock cooler, you'll have a really solid build.

still a very good processor despite its age, i'd say its better than the 6500. if you already have 8gb i'd skip the ram and get the fury X(or fury if you wanna cheap out).

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

absolutely not worth the extra dosh over a 100mhz increase over the i5 6500.

Mine is ddr3, if it was ddr4 I image it would be faster

I mean 8gb of ddr3 would be fine for games like crisis 3 right xD Ill look at higher up GPU units.

ddr4 would be faster but it wouldn't be a very big impact on performance.

8gb is more than enough, and that fury X competes with the gtx 1070.

woah woah woah... there's an lga 1155 i7 that's not 500 USD? woah... woah.... .....woaaaahhhh...

What ram does @TheCatShuriken have? How much memory capacity. If 4 or 8 you can probably skip it in upgrades. Other than that generally speaking dropping a sick GPU in there, and a nice PSU, you'll do very well. Having that i7 would be super nice.

Ram is 8 gb of ddr3, probably fine to skip. Gonna toy around with that build a bit, 1 sec

used ones go for pretty cheap, and these i7s were never at $500 anyways. 4gb of ram isn't enough for gaming.

450 USD is a little high imo.

4gb is fine. Evidence:

ram speed generally doesn't really matter. i ran 800 mhz ddr2 just fine in comparison to ddr3. Generally speaking amount is the only thing to matter

Ah yeah, newer titles are ram demanding. It wasn't too long ago that some titles ran just fine with 2gb ram. Arma 2 from what I believe to be 2010 runs pretty well. Considering lowest settings.

Of course older titles don't need as much ram, but newer Triple A titles like Just Cause 3 that I wish to run need the ram.
