Just looking to gauge the communities thoughts on custom loop pricing.

For me up in the "Great White North" (canada)  my costs seem to be as follows

D5 Vario $85

EKWB GPU $200

Fittings $10/ -Barb or Compression

Rads $80-200

CPU Block $100

These kinda prices excessive or on point for what a custom loop costs?

Would I not be better off getting an EK Predator Kit then adding the gpu to it?

Predator 360 is $300 Plus 240 for the block.

Missing the tubing which would be roughly another $20 or so, however the prices you listed are pretty accurate for the cost.

The nice thing about custom loop is you can design it however you want, with the predator you're stuck with the black tubing which in some cases can be excessive and just look messy.

While the predator + the GPU block addon is cheaper, it's all about what you want in the end.

LTT just did a budget water cooling loop but yeah water cooling is not cheap

The predator is nice and compact,  includes fans etc.  The issue I see with it is the ddc pump,  I see so many post about issues with the ddc pumps being super hot etc.

Yah, was just about to edit to say something about that. The other advantage of the predator however is less chance for leaks, albeit very slim to begin with, compared to a custom loop if done right.

The whole leaking bit doesn't worry me to much, soft tubing, barb fittings. The sad thing is now that I've modified my Strix 1080 with 2x140mm fans, I see 28C @idle and 60@ load without changing the fan speed../

Prices are a bit off but you gotta pay to play. You can get the gpu block prefilled and add it to the predator, if you get the 360mm version. Id rather build it myself though.

Watercooling prices are so broad that it's hard to really put a general sticker on it. Entry level would probably be an AIO, but for custom, you'd be looking at 250+ for a good loop i guess. It goes to another level when you do multi-GPU due to more rads, blocks, and fans, and then an even further level when you do hardline. Hardline then goes to another level when you're trying to make it look perfect. My main rig's hardline watercooling loop itself (not including hardware) cost me $1500 D=

AIOs are kind of an odd middleground... not a strong argument over air for performance, and more expensive. But I totally get the aesthetic. Custom loops are a totally different ball game. A lot more time and money needs to be invested, and while the performance will be superior to air, the high cost doesn't exactly make a convincing argument for value. But that's not really the point... no one in their right mind does it for that reason. In fact, I'd argue many who watercool (and I include myself in this) are not at all right in the mind in the first place haha! ;)

You have to just ask yourself why you want to go this route in the first place, and if you're happy to spend the money. It's never going to be cheap.

My big thing is getting the system silent.  I don't  want to hear it when I'm gaming.

Turn your speakers up :-p

I'm giving up on watercooling, its gonna cost me 600CAN for something that will provide marginal performance and not much quieter operation.

For 600 I can buy a Thunderbolt Hub and put my system in the next room!

Not much quiter? Must have a very quiet system now or not doing something right.

Its under 24dbc.

Well I guess it's more of a heat/sound comparison. I can leave all my air coolers at 30% and let the components bake. But even having a custom loop my psu makes a lot of noise. Still a lose/lose for me.

Im not running stuff hot either,  with my ghetto 1080 fan setup the card stays under 60c while gaming
