If you format your hdd you will need to reinstall windows. If you have windows 10 it will automatically reactive the license when you reinstall it.

If you are talking about formating your drives, then you would need to reinstall windows.

You can download the ISO to install windows Windows from Microsoft, but you will need a key. You can install Windows (at least Windows 7 and 10) without a key, but you will need to activate it later on.

ok maybe i said the wrong thing.. i want to wipe everything off from my computer everything thats downloaded.. will i need my windows code for when i start it up again..

If you have windows 10 no. Once you reinstall it, it actives automatically..

If you want to wipe everything, then you will need to format your drive. If you want to wipe everything that you downloaded, why not delete everything in your downloads folder?

What version of windows?

 

With 8+ you can do the restore to defualts and it will make it just like a clean install. With 7 and older you have to reinstall and need the key.

i want to wipe every little thing on my pc, all programs,all files. i want it clean

Then reinstall Windows. There is a "Start over" function in Windows 8.1 and 10, but I would just format all drives and install Windows from scratch.
