Help choosing right card for the games

Hunlight

Hello,

Little story, my last card is Gtx 960 4gb Im pretty happy with it, well overclocked giving nice results. now I got some money and want to make a present for my self (Yes yes for myself, after posting will go cry somewhere :( ).

So my budged is arround 300 at max (better less).

Shops:

https://skytech.lt

https://kilobaitas.lt

Best shops in my country, sorry I cant wait for a delivery from amazon or smth.

For now there is choose from:

Gigabyte GeForce® GTX 1060 Windforce OC, 6GB vs

Gigabyte GeForce® GTX 1060 Windforce OC, 3GB + 8GB Ram (Now got only 8 Gb of Rams, for 3 Gb version definetly need more soooo)

Price about the same, 3GB + 8 Gb ram is 10 eur cheaper.

Also I never used Amd cards, because actually all the games Im playing is kinda Nvidia based:

Witcher 3, Fallout 4 (not sure about this one ), Path of Exile, SW: BattleFront, 7Days to Die and few online games which doesn't require such card at all.

Willbe playing at 1080p, because actually got BenQ GL 2460 Monitor, so no sense in the comparison for 1440p.

Thank for all opinions!

Regards,

Veslav

Bunch of games prove 10fps difference and also more VRAM is better. More games now push to more vram and normal ram can be added easily whereas vram can not

3gb memory won't be very future proof, considering some games already use more than that. Id go with the 1060  6gb as some have already said.

1) Just to max out the settings in witcher 3 (Without hair works mby), and be happy, to mod skyrim/fallout4 to the limits and still got 60+ FPS :D I cant really get that with 960

2) Hmm Im lonely and new toy is makes me happy, so gifting my self a christmas gift is smth :)

Yeah I thinking about it, because 3gb + 8 gb ram is still a choose ,because I work with programs like sony vegas and other which require tons of ram

Hey, I have readed your post, yeah mby everyoen right upgrade Ram is cheaper than Vram :D, but actually if I now get the 6GB I couldnt get Ram which is kinda require for programs like sony vegas and others, Hmmm kinda thinkin about AMD but 480 4gb is not cheap enough to get rams too.

For an investment, 3GB of VRAM and no SLI support? Nope nope nope

Get the RX 480 if its cheaper.

I dont need SLI anyway, and games Im playing the most is Nvidia based so AMD showing less FPS

Of those only Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 favors Nvidia.

3GB of VRAM is cutting it close to the requirements of existing games.

Its a dead end card, especially given how Nvidia handles driver updates for older GPU.

I wouldn't make such a short sighted decision.

Path of exile also working better on Nvidia and thats the 3 games Im playing the most, I think to get 1060 6 GB now, still look for a more tests of 480 in those games.
