Is this PC good enough for gaming and animating?

Hey guys!

So I'm planning on building a PC, so I can animate and game, probably record gameplay too. My budget is not very tight, although, if I can lower the price more, it would be great.

So here are the specs:

Motherboard Asus z170 pro gaming

Processor Intel I7 6700k

Graphics card Asus 1080 Strix

power supply Corsair RM850x

CPU cooler CM 212 evo

Ram 16gb Kingston HyperX Fury 2400mhz

Storage Samsung 850 evo basic 1tb (the most popular)

case Fractal Desigh Define r5

I'm not entirely sure about the processor, it's a beast, but it's only got 4 cores and 8 threads. Might be a problem for rendering. I also chose the expensive gtx1080, so it will take longer before I need to upgrade again.

Tell me what you guys think, I would really appreciate help with this build!

What programs will you use? Will they benefit from the 6800K?

Otherwise, looks good, though I would recommend a be quiet! CPU cooler.

Just for future reference, use PcPartPicker.com for your build. But otherwise I love the build.

I'll be using 3ds max, Maya and blender for animating. For editing I'll be using Adobe Premiere Pro and for voice overs and recording- Audacity.

3ds Max and Maya will benefit less from more cores but will from faster cores, but Blender and Premiere will benefit from more and faster cores.

if you are looking for something around the same price of a 212 evo i would recommend a Cryorig H7 however the price depends a lot on where you live

Okay, so I guess I'll need to get a better one then?

Yeah, everything here where I live is a lot more expensive. Especially cars.

If the price isn't too far off for you.

Use PCPP to find the price difference between the 6700K and the 6800K.

Honestly, it's the top of everyone's budget for a reason, and it seems almost too powerful for what you want :/ But it does seem awesome and I hope you get it if you can afford it because I assure you it will last a really long time!

Yeah, price is a little off, but with Black Friday tomorrow. it won't make a big difference.

I don't know, sometimes animating can go pretty bad with weaker parts. But, yeah, thank you for the advice, I'm glad to know that it'll last long!
