Ask your friend if he could maybe get a 1070 instead and get a 6600K or 6700K, depending on what he's doing. What's his exact budget? The 6500 doesn't really have a competitor, at least not until we get Zen. See if he could stretch to a 6600K, it would work much better with his 1080.
