A few questions about gaming laptops

KrMaH

Hey beautiful techies!

So my poor, trustworthy and beloved Lenovo ThinkPad E330 is nearing the end of its useful life as it's getting quite old, and it's i3 and 8 gigs of ram (originally 4gigs, second smartest upgrade ive ever done next to an ssd) are no longer enough to be doing what I need it to do as I've started an engineering degree where we have to do lots of work in both revit and Autocad.

It is to my understanding that both of these programs are both quite CPU, ram and GPU intensive, which has made my eyes look into gaming laptops.

I've been eying both the Lenovo Y700 and some of the ROG laptops, as well as some from MSI. and I've been wondering which of these are looked upon as the most reliable?

I've had some of my friends suggest HP and Dell, but I am of the opinion Dell is overpriced and the quality I've experienced with my previous HPs are worse than poor.

I'm not looking for direct suggestions, as I haven't decided on a budget yet (though the 1500 USD range looks rather tempting) but I'd love the Internet service opinion on the general reliability, support and upgrade options (m.2 ports with nvme support, extra ram slots...) that MSI, Lenovo and Asus ROG has?

Thanks in advance for any input, and please have a wonderful day! :D

Hmmm! Just looked it up, and looks super sweet!
Problem is, where i Live, that thing is WAAAAAY out of my budget! like, 1100 USD out of my budget! :P
Norway is expensive :(
Been looking at this one though: https://www.asus.com/ROG-Republic-Of-Gamers/ROG-GL502VT/
My only gripe is that the specific model Ive been looking at only has 8 gigs of ram, but that can easily be upgraded :)

I know!
Makes me sad! A GTX1060 would do wonders!
Cant afford to buy a new laptop right now, unfortunately, but by the time I can afford one I'm hoping the prices for pascal specced laptops will have decreased.
