Does anyone have any recommendations for very low cost (as in under $50) upgrades that make PC gaming better? Can be hardware, or things to improve your entire desktop experience.

Maybe something like a Modmic if you play a lot of online games with friends. You would't know how better it is to talk to someone with a decent mic.

If it's running off WiFi, you could probably run an Ethernet cable to it from your router for less than $50.

Yes, it's 2871 as in the year 2871. I traveled all this way, back in time, just to help you. And you thought your mama lied when she said you were special-_-

I'm currently using home plugs which gets me about 50% of what a straight wired connection would, which is still a good speed. I'm not sure how you would wire an Ethernet cable though - my PC is on the complete opposite side of the house to my router in X, Y and Z directions.

you just pull em trough the floors or walls like regular power cables. the max length for a cat 5 cable is 2.5 kilometer i believe so that should be enough lol.

You could do as @tlink says. Or, in my case, I run a white cable that matches my outside house paint color, like the DirectTV line, then up the window and into my computer room.
