hello,

I have a laptop with a 1366x768 resolution, and I would like to know how I can force the resolution to 1080p.

I need this because sometimes I don't have enough space on my screen.

now, if I plug in an external 1080p display, and put it on duplicate displays at 1080p, then everything on my laptop screen looks a lot smaller, which is what I want.

however, if I remove the display there is no way of my laptop screen on its own to 1080p.

how do I do this?

in case it matters, I have an amd apu with the latest drivers.

It doesnt work like that. You have a set amount of pixels on the screen, and you cant create more. You can try going to display settings and setting the resolution manually to 1080p, but i have no idea what the effect of this would be.

I know, but I want it to be set at 1080p, and then downscale automatically to 768p. I have a lot more screen space then.

it does that with an external display plugged in, I just want to know how to set it without a monitor plugged in.

that is not what I want. that only works in certain apps. I want the resolution to scale down system wide.

I just need a way of forcing a custom resolution I think...
