What Headphones would you recommend for under 200€

Nastier

Hey guys,

I recently broke my headphones so I'm looking for a new one to get, and wanted something a bit better than what i'm used to.

I mainly use them on my phone when i'm outside.

With a max budget of about 200€, what would you guys recommend ?

I did a bit of research, and found :

-The ATH M50X by audio technica

-The Sennheiser HD 598

-The Bose Soundclear II

What do oyu guys think of those (if you had them) ? Can you think of something else ?

Thanks in advance.

Isn't Bose like beats (abuses bass)? The Sennheisers are great, but if you mainly listen to bass-heavy music Sennheiser's sound signature is a little flat

I'm kind of a noob in audiophile stuff so I don't know much about what brands are good and not.

I mainly listen to Hard rock and Metal so I don't think I need a strong bass.

no, overpriced, over hyped, bit muddy mids, zero soundstage and highs that are really sharp. Good bass though.

So what kind sound are you going after? bass boost, mid boost, mid-bass boost, treble boost? Open or closed?

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

Feel free to pm me if you have a question for me or quote me. If you want to hear what I have to say about something just tag me.

I'm not really sure, the thing is I never had access to audiophile grade stuff so I don't really have any idea.

Bose is like Beats, but way better. They might not be a good value, because they're kinda expensive, but they're way more worth it than Beats (trash imo).

do you want sound to leak in and out of your headphones?

I've only had closed back so far so i'm not sure of the difference it makes when listening.

I guess it won't matter much

Okay I would look at:

AKG K553/550: they have a balanced sound and a big soundstage for closed (big soundstage is good)

AKG K712: They are more neutral sounding, but they have a small bass bump so they get a bit warm. (very big soundstage)

NAD VISO HP50: Fairly balanced, but a bit warm

beyerdynamic DT770: V shaped signature, so the bass and treble is boosted a bit, good soundstage for closed.

HD558: Balanced sound with a little mid-bass boost.

SHP9500: has a bit brigther treble than the HD558, other than that they are fairly similar

Those are the main ones I would give a look.
