Hey,

I'm currently running GTX 1060 and FX 6300 clocked at 4.1ghz.

I have a  EVGA 500w 80 Plus Power Supply.

I'm just asking do you think I'll need to change my PSU if i were to upgrade to a FX 8350 or 8320

The fx 6300 isn't what I thought it would be when paired with the 1060.

Thx for your time :)

Any response will be appreciated

Generally going AM3+ is a bad idea now. Your PSU is not a good unit, it's a 500W1 unit if I'm not mistaken. But on the other hand, the 1060 is efficient so it should suffice.

Keep in mind that you need to have an appropriate motherboard for the FX-8350/20 with good power delivery system cause you can fry a bad motherboard with those CPUs.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT 16GB GDDR6 Motherboard: MSI PRESTIGE X570 CREATION
AIO: Corsair H150i Pro RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 32GB 3600MHz DDR4 Case: Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic PSU: Corsair RM850x White

don't bother to upgrade to an 83xx, it's a waste of cash. I'd suggest saving money for something better from Intel (or AMD Zen)

Computer Case: NZXT S340 || CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 || Cooler: CM Hyper212 Evo || MoBo: MSI B350 Mortar || RAM Vengeance LPX 2x8GB 3200MHz || PSU: Corsair CX600 || SSD: HyperX Fury 120GB & 240GB || HDD: WD Blue 1TB + 1TB 2.5'' backup drive || GPU: Sapphire Nitro+ RX 580 4GB

Laptop 1 HP x360 13-u113nl

Laptop Lenovo z50-75 with AMD FX-7500 || OS: Windows 10 / Ubuntu 17.04

Yes you would probably need to change your PSU to like a supernova G2 650w(80$) in which case you can grab a cheap skylake motherboard and also an i5 6500 for not much more and experience no bottle-necks and also much lower power draw.

PSU quality-wise, I don't know. But if it served you well this far...

Wattage-wise, yes, you are fine.

performance difference between FX-6300 and FX-8350 in games is negligeable at best...you won't see any better framerates by swapping the CPU so don't even bother it's not worth it.
If you want better performance sell your AMD kit and get an intel i5 instead.

Gaming wise atm you might not see that big of an improvement as other said unless its a game like deus ex which takes advantage of all those cores, but  those games are rare and few, other then gaming it might make sense depending on what you do, or even multitasking, or having lots of things opened while gaming etc, but for an FX83XX chip with overclock you might have to change the motherboard and PSU, let us know your mobo first.

Sorry for late response.

My mobo GA-78LMT-USB3 6.0 (Socket M2)

I wouldn't put an 8350 anywhere near that thing.

That is pretty much the best budget mobo, but its still not i would recommend an FX83XX with it. That mobo can take quite a beating (i know someone who has been running an FX6300 OC at 4.4 Ghz at 1.575v on it for a few years now), and it might even work with an FX8350, but in all honesty it is recommended to change the mobo, basically if your not planning an overclock, and you want to stick with the FX lineup i would recommend to go with a motherboard rather then PSU, without an overclock everything should hold on good, if you do plan to stick with the FX and overclock then you need to change both PSU and motherboard.

Edit: after looking a bit more at the 1060 power requirements if its a decent energy efficient one you should be able to do a small OC as well.

Thanks man. :)
