I have used all the SATA ports on my motherboard and I would like to plug in more hard drives. I would prefer not to buy a new motherboard as I would have to replace the CPU as well, what would you recommend?

I was thinking of getting this

Is there something else I should be looking at? Will these give decent transfer speeds?

all the connections you add to that card will, all together, be limited to 6gpbs. this means that if 4 discs are trying to read, each one's max speed will be a little over 90MBps

if its just for more ports and speeds dont matter much then go for it, doesn't really matter which card you buy. If you need speed and if you use any kind of raid then forget about all of these and go for a real hardware raid card. That will however cost you anywhere from $200 to over $1k depending on what you choose. All depends on how many ports you want.
