I'm looking for a good upgrade from the 2600 but I don't want a new motherboard etc

I don't have SLI so I don't need tons of lanes also I can't overclock with my motherboard.

and for power I would like it to be the same or lower and I do need 8 cores for video editing ect

2600 is only 4 cores and 8 threads. but your choices are restricted by your motherboard bottom-line

i have a dell and i tried taking the motherboard out and i would have to take off a driver bay thats riveted and i would also have to replace the PSU as it does not use a 24 pin for a motherboard

look into if you can flash the bios in anyway... if not you're out of luck. what exactly are you doing that needs full 8 cores for video production.... you can still edit and what not without the latest and greatest and most of us arnt doing the most intensive tasks (relatively speaking)
