1. Disable windows firewall.

2. Go you your routers firewall and forward UDP/TCP ports 27015 and 27005 to your local machine.

Those are default source engine ports 27015 for server 27005 for client.

Something wrong with your connection ?

Run the damn cable :)

1. Disable windows firewall.

2. Go you your routers firewall and forward UDP/TCP ports 27015 and 27005 to your local machine.

Use the IP that you have your server hosted on. As you are probably running it on the same machine, you can find out your IP by:

1. Click start

2. Type "cmd" into the search box and press enter (assuming you are running win 7)

3. In the window that appears type "ipconfig"

4. Look for "Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection"

5. Then IPv4 address line will be your IP address (something like 192.168.1.xxx)

Use that IP address when forwarding ports if your are hosting on the same machine as you are playing with.
