Yes it can. I never had any issue with any aftermarket ink, but I know people that had huge issues with it. If it is bad, it may damage your printer mechanism and shorten the life of it. God forbid it spills. If you decide to buy them, don't at least take the cheapest ones. I usually buy cartridges from Orink and never had any issues. The keyword key here is may. As everything, it may and may not cause problems.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.
